After last week's fiasco I was a little apprehensive about this project. I stitched on it all through Sunday afternoon and evening, but ended up frogging again and again. Luckily I am a patient woman, so I did not get worked up about it, but I was disappointed. I put it away, picked it back up, put it away and picked it back up, until somewhere around 11 PM Sunday night something clicked. I stitched nearly all eyelets of the border in an hour or so and since then everything is going smoothly. Just shows again that slow and steady wins the race.
The outer border is completely done, including the beading. I have started with the chocolates around the border and one of the ornaments between them:
It's been a lot of fun to stitch on this and see the geometric shape of the design emerging. As you can see the chocolates are still empty. The two top rows have already been released, but I would like to finish the outlines first before starting the details. With the details will come a second colour in the design: silver. For now it's only white thread and beads.

Na het fiasco van afgelopen week werd ik een beetje wankelmoedig van dit project. Ik heb er de hele zondagmiddag en -avond aan gewerkt, maar moest keer op keer uithalen. Gelukkig ben ik een geduldige vrouw, dus ik werd er niet heel geagiteerd van, maar ik was wel teleurgesteld. Ik legde het opzij, pakte het weer op, legde het weer opzij en pakte het weer op, totdat rond 11 uur 's zondag's avonds alles op z'n plek viel. Ik heb bijna alle Algerijnse oogjes in een uur of zo geborduurd en sindsdien verloopt alles soepel. Het blijkt maar weer dat de aanhouder wint.
De buitenste rand is volledig af, inclusief de kralen. Ik heb een start gemaakt met de chocolaatjes langs de rand en een van de ornamenten ertussen:
Het is ontzettend leuk om hier aan te borduren en de geometrische vormen van het ontwerp te zien ontstaan. Zoals je kunt zien zijn de chocolaatjes zelf nog steeds leeg. De twee bovenste rijen zijn uitgegeven, maar ik wil eerst de lijnen allemaal af maken voordat ik begin aan de details. Met de details komt ook een tweede kleur in het ontwerp: zilver. Maar voor nu is het alleen maar witte draad en kralen.
